Potholders 2010

It's been a long time since I took part in a swap. The last was a Secret Pal exchange, but I don't even remember what number it was. Occasionally I've been tempted to sign up again, but nothing ever quite grabs me enough... until I read about the Potholder 2010 swap. The rules were simple: crochet five potholders (in the same pattern), send them in and get a selection of five back.

I picked up some Rowan handknit cotton yarn in a small selection of colours, and got stuck into reading many many different potholder patterns. Eventually I settled on this one: Tried to Look Pretty Potholder. I'm far from being a crochet genius, but the pattern is wonderfully clear and easy to follow, and the results are lovely.

I packed up my five, and sent them off looking like this:

And last week I received a package of new potholders all for me, looking like this:

Aren't they lovely? I almost don't want to use them, they're so nice. Almost. These are going to be well-loved in this house. Thank you so much to my five crochet angels, and to the organisers of the swap!
